The Coppertone: Official Video

Here's the official video for The Coppertone's new single 'Black Water', which was shot over a week in November/December, during the band's 2011 winter tour across Canada.

Directed by Adrian Vieni

Produced by Wood & Wires

Its been a long time coming (for me at least), but the first episode of I'm directing for Chart Attack and Steam Whistle is finally out. The series is called Noisemakers, and it features exclusive interviews and sessions from some great Canadian and international artists.
This first episode features new Arts & Crafts signees Eight and a Half, a band made up of members of The Stills and Broken Social Scene. You can view and read more on the Noisemakers home page, or watch the first clip below.

The Darcys: Josie

In December, I was asked to shoot a new music video for The Darcys, for a single off of their new record Aja . I acted as DP on the video, with help from Joel Barnes, and it was directed by their manager Aaron Miller. We're all very happy with how it turned out and even more happy with seeing it premiere in Interview Magazine today. You can read the story here, and watch the video below!

The Wicks

Here's another film I shot in Victoria a couple weeks ago, this time featuring The Wicks. I was out there filming an EPK feature for Snoqualmie (aka Blake Enemark), and he informed me that he also played bass in this band, so we figured we'd make use of the time there to do a video with them...
So here's a fun, sloppy session live from their living room jam space, which turned out to be pretty rockin'.

Hawk & Steel

Last week while in Victoria, BC filming the production of the new Snoqualmie record, I filmed an impromptu session with a local band called Hawk and Steel. They got us into the local record store after hours to film this little ditty. Hope you like it.

Gear Talk: Arkells

Earlier in the fall I went to the Arkells record release show at The Dakota Tavern, to film a little piece during sound check. This was commissioned by Universal Music Canada for Ultimate-Guitar.com, as part of their 'Gear Talk' Series. You can find the official link here or watch the video below.
Disclaimer: This seemed to be bumped out of sync half a second or so while uploading. I apologize for that, but unfortunately don't have the original file anymore to re-upload. Hope you still enjoy it.

The Coppertone

For the last 10 days, I've been out on tour across Canada with The Coppertone, filming for a music video along the way. While we were on the ferry to Victoria yesterday, we felt inspired, and decided to film a nice little acoustic session. Amanda chose to try out a new song, called Quicksand, which she's been playing on tour. Its a bit of a departure from the rest of The Coppertone's songs, but it really lends itself to a simple arrangement, and soft playing like this. Watch the video below, and check out more from The Coppertone here.

Arkells in Studio

Here's the 3rd and final video from my time in the studio with Arkells. It is more of a cumulative piece of the recording process, that includes behind the scenes footage, the band talking about the record, and the title track 'Michigan Left'. Enjoy!

The Darcys- Live in White Space

In August, we shot 10 (yes... 10) videos for The Darcys to put up the day of their record release, which just so happens to be today. The plan was this- 10 different blogs were chosen, each one got to pick a song from the new self titled record, and they received an exclusive performance video for that song, to host on the record release day. Good plan, or what?
Here's our exclusive, for one of my favourite songs, "Des Animaux". You can find links to the rest of the videos, for every song off their new record, embedded below as well! And don't forget to download the record for free HERE.
